SPL has the paperback edition. If you read this one, then you're missing the HUNDREDS of oil paintings that fill the hardcover edition.

It is still a lovely tale, but the paintings really bring it to life. I recommend purchasing the hardcover edition, or requesting that SPL does so.

This is one of my favourite books. Clive Barker is a master storyteller with an unparalleled imagination and this is by far his most imaginative, bizarre and touching story to-date.

It was a really good book. Ilove the way its staged in 2 different worlds compleatly opposite from one another.

I found this book to be random and pointless.

I have never read anything quite like this novel. So strange and wonderful it's like being in a fun house at the circus-- in the room of warped mirrors: a fun experience but makes you feel a little shaken up afterwards.

Washed into a world called Abarat,
Candy ventures the lands
With her trusted friend, the geshrat,
Running from the devious Criss-cross man.

Candy and her comrade Malingo
Explore the islands and reminisce,
From Qualm Hah, to Orlando’s cap and much, much more,
Even still, there are islands they missed.

Candy is thrown into a foreign world that is definitely NOT her boring home in Chickentown. Unwittingly, she finds herself in mortal danger, running from the scariest man in the Abarat.
