It's quite wonderful to hear Patti Smith read the account of her relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe. Additionally it's interesting to hear her talk about Harry Smith, Sam Shephard, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.

You have the added benefit of hearing the author give phrasing to her poetry when she reads her work near the end of this recording.
