This book tells you how to upcycle items you either have or buy at thrift stores, etc. Some of the projects are pretty basic (everybody has a tote bag pattern these days) but some of them are rather nice (she has a unique way of doing the closure for a portfolio / tablet case).

This is a good beginner book as it has well detailed information on basic sewing techniques. Contains lots of projects. Many are simple and some are inspiring.
