Opinion

From Library Staff

What would you do if you thought that this world was not real, was just a dream, and you had the power to do anything you wanted? Would you be a hero, or a tyrant?

A different version of epic fantasy: in this book, the hero is not always a hero, and good and evil are not so very clear.

He called himself Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever because he dared not believe in the strange alternate world in which he suddenly found himself. Yet he was tempted to believe, to fight for the Land, to be the reincarnation of its greatest hero....

One of the best series I've ever read. But ~ it's dark, so don't expect 'light hearted'. If you like the first trilogy, there is also a second trilogy. In my opinion, "must" reading for fantasy lovers.

An absolutely amazing novel (and series), with a main character is who utterly flawed and unbearably human. Whether you love or hate Thomas Covenant as a person, his journey is wonderful and this book is a must for all fantasy fans.

This is a story with an ultimate anti-hero. I tell you, I could not stand this guy -- he has leporasy and is the ultimate weakling --

Through a series of events, he is transported to a world which he thinks is a dream. He is utterly unprepared for the goings on and completely inept at protecting himself but somehow, through other people's sacrifice, he seems to rescue the entire "make believe" world.
