I think this book was good in its own way. It's a pretty good book, but I find maybe the author should work on the characters a bit.. so people could be able to have a favourite character. I wasn't too enthusiastic about it in the beginning, but in the end I appreciated the read much more. Pretty good book.

last year I was told to read this book at school in a group where we read a chapter than do a summary of the chapter. I being a person loving fantasy (Harry Potter, Narnia) the thought of si-fi turned me off, but once into the book I felt it very good and catching it was hard to stop reading this book is great timeless adventure a must read!

A timeless classic about time and space, or as Einstein's prof would put it, spacetime! Ms. L'Engle inspires with a book both heroic and darkly sinister.

A story for all ages with some science in the science fiction. Creative, enjoyable. It left me wanting more so it's a good thing there are some more books in this series.

When it was published, this book was probably great, but given some of the latest fantasy literature that can now be compared to it (namely Harry Potter and the Hunger Games) I didn't find this book interesting at all. The language of the day used in this novel was also slightly annoying. I couldn't fit myself into the characters either - Meg whines an incredible amount and Charles is more creepy and annoying than admirable. The heavy religious overtones limit the audience, I felt.

amazing and very good to read!

Few science fiction stories for children have matched Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time (and the subsequent books in the “Time” quintet) which features 12-year-old Meg Murry, her younger brother Charles, and their friend Calvin. Meg’s scientist father, who has been working on a secret government project, a “tesseract” (a space warp with similarities to the “hotzman effect” in Frank Herbert’s Dune), has been kidnapped by “IT,” an evil being that changes humans into mindless conformities. The three children travel to the distant planet Camazotz to rescue him. They are helped by various creatures – Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, Aunty Beast and the Happy Medium. The children are eventually able to rescue Mr. Murry, but when they leave Camazotz, Charles is left behind. In the end, Meg discovers that it is only the quality of love which can save Charles – or any of us – from evil. It’s strange to reflect that A Wrinkle in Time – now an indisputable children’s classic – was rejected by over 26 publishers before being accepted by Farrer, Straus & Giroux Publishing in 1962. Madeleine L’Engle was told that her book was “too different” for children. (L’Engle’s book was quite original for its time. For example, it was one of the first children’s science fiction stories to feature a female protagonist/heroine – an intelligent, “brainy” heroine, at that!) Along with the original story, the special anniversary edition of A Wrinkle in Time includes extras such as photos of the author, her Newbery Medal acceptance speech, an introduction by author Katherine Paterson, and an afterword by Madeleine L’Engle’s niece.

I recently re-read this one as an adult after remembering how much I enjoyed it back when I was 12 or 13. Though it kept me entertained the second time around, I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of character development as others have pointed out, and I wish more time had been spent explaining the science behind the science fiction. For me, it remained a fun story with a good message and it will probably remain on my list of favorite books given how much it affected me as a teen. The 2004 or 2005 edition I read also contained an essay at the end that does explain a bit more of the science and discoveries made since the original publication date in 1962. I felt that was a nice supplement.

'A Wrinkle in Time' is an awesome book! It has suspence and unbelievable content.

i loved this book. i thought is was the best of the series. if you read some of her other books, they are a lot slower.
