This reminded me of Jack Ryan et al in the Tom Clancy books: the hero is too perfect, the agency he works for is too noble, the villains are too one dimensional, and the women are beautiful, secondary character foils for their men. The author was unable to generate any suspense even in the final sequence because the hero is perfect and is going to save the day. Yawn.

I really enjoyed the first one third of the book. The remaining two thirds had too many details which made the reading slow paced, hence only a three star rating.

The Gabriel Allon series is comfortable like an old robe. I like the details about art,Vatican, etc.

Featuring Gabriel Allon again who at the request of the Vatican investigares a murder inside St. Peter's cathedral which leads him to a Palestinian plot to destabilize Israel. A good read but somewhat predictable.

Good interesting story. The one about the Catholic church conspiracy is getting a little stale. How about one to take over the govt of Isreal?

The Gabriel Allon series is excellent and this book is no exception. It would be best for the reader new to the series to read them in order.

Unlike other authors of a series, Silva never lets you down. This is another great thriller with fast paced action, intricate plotting & a little history lesson thrown in. The author obviously does his research & is well versed in the history & politics of many countries. All the old favourites are back with suitably scary bad guys. The only sad note is the truly portrayed reality of the Middle East. Can be read as a stand alone book but you'll get much more out of it if you start with the first one. Highly recommend.
