In case you haven't read this already, it is super fun, a complex, clever, nasty (but not too nasty) puzzle-box of a book that will make you glad for the marriage you have, if you are married. I can't really talk about the plot without risking spoilers, but there is a lot of plot, and twists-- l... Read More »

I would definitely recommend reading this before watching the movie, kept me on the edge of my seat! A little slow at first with character development but once it started it didnt stop!

Great story; well written. Just don't expect an ending; or prepare to guess how it ends. I won't read any more books by this author.

About the very first time I saw the movie, then just had to read the book. Great and chilling movie, likewise the book. While I did not care for the ending, I DID think it realistic. If a reader doesn't, suggest you read the article on the gang rapes at the University of Virginia [UVA] in The Rolling Stone [Dec. 14, 2014 issue]

Wow, is Amy ever a horrible character -- a spellbinding read, though!

Yowzah! Excellent story for those of us who like "dark" novels. I listened to the audiobook version of this book which pivots back and forth with the two main characters' journal-style narrations. The voice actors are excellent and the story line is creepy and frustrating with a dynamic twist and keeps twisting with an uncomfortable ending.

A cruel and diabolical story :the heroine is one of the worst villains ever created. One may be repulsed by the foul language but it seems necessary to convey the rage, deep frustration, pain of its evil tormented characters . A very intense, suspenseful thriller : incredibly talented narrators Julia Whelan and Kirby Haylorne add to the thrill!

I was very bored at the beginning but after a few chapters, the twists and turns kept me listening. I found myself hating Nick, then hating Amy and at the very end I hated both of them because they are codependent, self sabotaging, sociopath's. Well written but the author was lazy for the terrible ending. 3.5 / 5 Hope the film has a better ending!

if you like audiobooks, you will be listening to gone girl at every possible moment - in the car, while brushing your teeth, doing dishes, anytime someone is not talking directly to you. this story is gripping. whatever you think of the author's ending, you will feel a bit sad when the book ends because it's such a thrill ride. listen now before you see the movie!

In the beginning, I found the two main characters to be so pathetic that I wanted to stop listening to this book. After persevering, I saw how the beginning was just one of the many layers of the book and I became engrossed with the cat and mouse game. Although I am glad I finished the book, it was a frightful read. I will have a tough time watching the movie.

The characters were difficult to get behind, gbth were whiny and immature. There are a lot of twists in the plot and the ending left a lot to be desired. However, after thinking about the ending it really was for the best.
