Beauty Queens
The fifty contestants in the Miss Teen Dream pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea, crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner. What's a beauty queen to do? Welcome to the heart of non-exfoliated darkness.

Great cover and premise: A group of beauty pageant contestants are stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. Unfortunately, the execution is lacking. Gimmicky and annoying instead of funny. I couldn’t get past disc 4.

This is probably the best audiobook I've ever listened to. The author's accents and voices bring life to the characters. Her timing and humor make the story compelling. This book is fun but adds social commentary to the mix. Definitely recommend!

Funny! And some touching moments too. Loved hearing the back stories for each of the girls. The author's narration is excellent. Overall much better than I expected, original and witty.

Libba Bray tackles some powerful themes in this book. It is interesting to watch, or hear, the girls grow as the story progresses. Bray does a fantastic job narrating the audio version. She captures the different accents and personalities of the girls and really brings the story to life.
