Add a CommentGood, not great, adaptation of the first chapter of Suzanne Collins’ dystopian trilogy; novel’s scenes of brutal violence were toned down to avoid an ‘R’ rating, and Jennifer Lawrence is a little too well-fed and shiny to convincingly portray the desperate denizen of an oppressed, poverty-stricken district.

Set in the future after a nuclear war the country is divided into twelve districts that are run militarily and politically from the capitol. As a memorial to the war and its chaotic aftermath an annual ritual, the hunger games, is staged and televised. Two tributes, one male and one female, are selected from each district to participate in the hunger games.The tributes are introduced in the capital and they receive last minute training and sponsors. Under the rules the hunger games is a death match using the supplies and weapons provided with only one survivor.

This movie was just so, so good ! I loved it. :)
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this as I didn't read any of the books, but I instantly fell in love with it. Jennifer Lawrence once again proves that she is an extremely talented actress. I would highly recommend this to science fiction fans, as well as fans of Lawrence as she is fantastic as always.
