"They had nothing in common until love gave them everything to lose. Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life--steady boyfriend, close family--who has never been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex-Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after a motorcycle accident. Will has always lived a huge life--big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel--and now he's pretty sure he cannot live the way he is. Will is acerbic, moody, bossy--but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living. A Love Story for this generation, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn't have less in common--a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart? "-- Provided by publisher.

Really enjoyed this book. Hooked in quickly. Not a typical romance. Produced robust disscussion.

I was reading this book just as Canada passed legislation to legalize assisted suicide. After reading several articles in the media, as well as this story, I felt emotionally drained. Many tears....

This story grabs your heart and doesn't let go, even after the book is done. The ending stayed with me a long time. It also made me question and think deeply about many issues.

Interesting and thought-provoking insight into living with a disability. The end was disappointingly superficial. The fact that the disabled man had become a much better human being since his disability seems to be ignored. His claim that this was the one thing he could decide for himself was hollow, in that he required his family's active involvement as much as with any other happening in his life. In fact, his selfishness in requiring this of them put them at risk of prosecution. The title says it all...it was all about his wishes. No one else really mattered.

A believable story that weaves well within the characters. Easy reading and heart rendering at times.

The plot touches on the life of a young man who after a tragic accident is left a quadriplegic. This subject may not appeal to some readers.

" He was already retreating, withdrawing to somewhere I couldn't reach him. I kissed him, trying to bring him back. I kissed him and let my lips rest against his so that our breath mingled and the tears from my eyes became salt on his skin, and I told myself that, somewhere, tiny particles of him would become tiny particles of me, ingested, swallowed, alive, perpetual. I wanted to press every bit of me against him. I wanted to will something into him. I wanted to give him every bit of life I felt and force him to live."

Product Description Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane. Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he's going to put a stop to that. What Will doesn't know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they're going to change the other for all time
