Holy sea cow! Another splendid tale and it has a wee shocker at the end. Mind you, I've said nothin' (unlike some people).

I enjoy these Flavia de Luce mysteries, set in England in the 50s, with a cheerful adolescent girl as protagonist.

I just can't get enough of Flavia and her adventures. I am also the youngest of three sisters...oh how I wish I'd had access to a chemistry lab when I was growing up. I might be an only child by now! I love how each book is revealing more about the family characters and story.

Hmmm....not sure what the "forgotten flower" mentioned in the blurb here, is? Certainly not a real flower, so maybe the gem....(hope that's cryptic enough not to be a spoiler). This is another fun romp with Flavia, and one of the most enjoyable. Can't wait to see what Bradley does in the next book. (Watch out for definite spoilers below - gloryb gives away at least two plot points, one of which comes right at the end of the book and likely sets up the next novel.)

I absolutely love this series and I think this is the best book yet! It was a little far-fetched at times, but still very interesting. I just didn't want it to end. And... It appears there may be another in the works.

I LOVE the Flavia de Luce books. Bradley has such a unique voice and I feel like Flavia is a precocious, niece of mine. I love her adventures, her squabbles with her sisters, and her fascination with poisons, chemistry and mystery. I can't wait for the next installment in the series. I think that I will have to purchase the entire series one day, so that my own daughter can discover Flavia for herself.

I liked this much more than the last one - it seems alan bradley brought more of flavia's gumption and humour back into the writing.
