This almost 3 hours of my life that i will never get back wallows in PURE RACISM,EXTREME HOMOSEXUALITY PROMOTION,SELF-HATRED,POLITICAL CORRECTNESS,SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS,FALSE RELIGION,SUICIDE,THE REAL LIFE GLOBAL WARMING HOAX,AND HISTORICAL AND MODERN DAY SLAVERY TO THE EXTREME PERIOD.Those of you that like or LOVE this movie are POLITICAL ZOMBIES because you really don't know or understand what this EXTREMIST MK ULTRA BRAINWASH IS REALLY ABOUT AT ALL PERIOD.WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Everybody that spent $ to see this MK ULTRA EXTREME BRAINWASHING PROGRAM ARE ACTUALLY FUNDING THE REAL LIFE DEPOPULATION OF ALL OF US IN REAL LIFE PERIOD,BUT YOU DON'T HEAR ME THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa!--I have yet to view this one and I have heard soooo much sort of "rotten tomatoes" type of reviews about it. Hmmm?! I think that it seems like it was some film project that went awry. Like, it Might have been developed into something that was a bit shorter in length, and then possibly a little less obscure or abstract?? Maybe?? I mean, it is Good to have the Imagination and the 'what if' quality to a movie; that is okay. But, if it gets to be so over the top and out of reach, plot-wise, for Any viewer...well, .... I Do think, though, that the caliber of the actors is there! Jim Sturgess, Tom Hanks. I have not seen Halle Berry in too many films, but she might be adequately cast in this one. The cinematography looks interesting. The locations and the time periods are intriguing. Perhaps this one is best left to an author, in book form? I will Still see it to find out what I really think. I always watch it myself in the end to make up my own mind about the overall quality and appeal of anything cinematic. It's harder these days to find a film that has enough substance in it and less of the blood/gore and massive technological elements that so often detract from making it a rewarding experience to watch. I'd like to be truly entertained, you know!! Something worthwhile. But, again...I Am curious and am going to give this one a chance to find out what all the 'hullabaloo' is about. heh!

Well, Guess What, folks...? I got to See it!!! This CLOUD ATLAS film. Yeah, it's Long! ehh. But!, I liked it better than I might have thought. Here's why: the Imagination and creativity that went into it was outstanding, for one thing!! Then, too, I think that ALL of the actors did a fine job! This takes a lot of doing for each actor to be made up for the different eras and to inhabit the different characters and their psyches! Not an easy task!! I liked how there were different directors for certain story lines. Noticed Tom Tykwer in that mix! He was responsible for a great film by the name of "Run Lola Run!"
Halle Berry did a fine job, especially as the reporter from the seventies, "Zodiac" era in this one! Very realistic portrayal! Jim Sturgess was outstanding!!! And, Jim Broadbent! Whoa!!! ~excellent!!! Ben Whishaw was another Great one for this type of role--good to see him! As usual, T. Hanks was in fine form.
The locations, and the cinematography were amazing. That actress Doona Bae (if I got her name correctly off top 'o my head! heh!) was Brilliant! Loved having her in the more Sci-Fi landscape portion of film; she added a Lot to the experience!! She and Jim made a wonderful pair in the story!!
That part with J. Broadbent breaking out of that miserable 'home' with the friends was Hilarious!! Just fantastic! Ohh, ohhh...sorry, don't wanna spoil plot(s) for anyone, here! Sigh...! IF you love fantasy, Sci-Fi, or an unconventional type of movie, SEE This One!! You will enjoy it immensely! I know I sure Did!!! Well, some of it..eheh! Editing is always a good thing, but for the most part this was a decent film. Just a little bit on the long side. I recommend taking a break between portions of it, then coming back later and resuming the viewing when time/mood is permitting....! :)!

I'm glad I read these reviews first,.. so that I had a grasp of the multiple story structure.

This film richly repays close attention !

Interesting movie, which surprisingly held my attention for 3 hours. I think it needs to be virewed multiple times in order to get the full value from the film. I liked the reference from Jim Broadbent in the octagenarian version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, saying "Soylent Green is people !". This actually had a connection to the Asian Sci-Fi story in Cloud Atlas.

Outstanding movie. I have watched it numerous times and get more out of it each time. This is about going forward in time, watching the characters' rebirth and how they relate to each other. I believe we live many lives, hopefully each life's purpose is to further magnify the soul. The quote "Our lives are not our own...from womb to tomb we are bound to others past and present and for each crime and every kindness we birth our future" really hit home to me. Amazing movie with wonderful characters and acting and has gone on my list of "to buy" movies!

Since I just watched this recently, I think that Cloud Atlas combines every single genre involving the sextet that makes each story important to another story, since they all lead to each clue, each situation, and each problem that the characters from each story go through. Whatever your age, even if life is an ocean made up of many drops, you may resolve that life is too short for this errant nonsense, although even if it had a large box office, it wasn't the highest-grossing film of 2012 or all time, which makes it disappointing, but not for me, as there's courage, hope, love, and sacrifice that makes each story a heart-warming or a heart-breaking tale that will make you feel emotional, since the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer did a successful job combing all these genres into one big epic timeline, with elements similar and far off from The Matrix, putting a more modern twist for the first four stories, while they have used technology similar to The Matrix in the last two stories, since everything is connected to one another. It would be an excellent advertisement for you to read the book, if you hadn't just ruined it by watching the movie, since Cloud Atlas has a close resemblance to its book adaption, with the plot, setting, and characters having some minor changes. Therefore, I give Cloud Atlas a 7/10 because in some secnes, it gets a little bit confusing about the information of each actor/actress portraying the same character with lead roles and minor roles, and I can't tell who's leading or not, but I understand the rest of the story.

The budget for this film probably could've funded a small nation, and most of it went towards Tom Hanks facial prosthetics, at least it looks as though it could, and that's the best that could be said for Cloud Atlas. An indulgent, dull and masturbatory exercise in filmmaking. Speaking of Mr. Hanks, you can pile on as much make up and give him lenses but you will always know it's him. He's not interesting enough of an actor to pull off multiple roles, and frankly, neither are any of the other actors. I turned it off after 1 hour and 45 minutes. Thank God I didn't see this in the theater.

if you haven't read the story (and i haven't) then you really have to be in the mood for this film. It is INCREDIBLY looooonnnnngggggg. And if your patience and tolerance isn't there, you will find yourself easily annoyed. Happily when i watched it i was in the right frame of mind for it. The acting on some of the minor characters is amazing. They play various characters in various time periods, extending from cave man times to futuristic. (That being said, it does tend to jump around a bit and if you lose focus you will indeed lose the plot.) And often times the actor will play opposite race and opposite sex. Which was pretty amazing. I know i'm in the minority but i am NOT a Tom Hanks fan. He always seems to play the same guy, just different situations and his performance here is pretty much the same. But as i've said, it's the minor actors that really make this film.

Ouch! I normally don't like Halle Berry but this one is really bad. Yeah, Tom Hanks is always good, but this movie is just confusing with nothing to capture my attention.

Isaac Sachs: Belief, like fear or love, is a force to be understood as we understand the Theory of Relativity and Principles of Uncertainty: phenomenon that determine the course of our lives. Yesterday, my life was headed in one direction. Today, it is headed in another. Yesterday I believed that I would never have done what I did today. These forces that often remake time and space, that can shape and alter who we imagine ourselves to be, begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. Our lives and our choices, like quantum trajectories, are understood moment to moment. At each point of intersection, each encounter suggests a new potential direction.

Haskell Moore: There is a natural order to this world, and those who try to upend it do not fare well. This movement will never survive; if you join them, you and your entire family will be shunned. At best, you will exist a pariah to be spat at and beaten-at worst, to be lynched or crucified. And for what? For what? No matter what you do it will never amount to anything more than a single drop in a limitless ocean.

Adam Ewing: What is an ocean but a multitude of drops?
