Opinion

From Library Staff

A leaner yet still very well-done adaptation of Tryon's tale set in Depression-era Connecticut.

I just revisited this ‘scary and extremely unsettling’ movie from my teens. Not too scary anymore but still a bit unsettling. Great plot, long storyline, subtle, creepy acting. A very good ghost story. Thomas Tyron, the author, was the producer and screen writer so the story stays pretty true to the book which was also quite disturbing at the time. Not too graphic but there are a number of ‘accidents’ with implied freakiness. Try it and be reminded of old fashioned twisted ghost stories.
