Absolutely stunning. A fitting conclusion to a series that is among the most thought-provoking and emotionally-evocative YA fiction I've ever read.

I cannot recommend this book unless you have read the others in the series (which I haven't); it was difficult to follow as it flips back & forth in time & place, and the writing was almost "stream of consciousness", not quite, but enough to make the reader want to exclaim "enough, already" to the author. I made it through, though I shouldn't have bothered as I had better books waiting. Unsatisfying ending without any resolution that I could divine.

This fourth and final book in the Monstrumologist series is heartbreaking, tying up some loose ends but ultimately leaving readers with the biggest question of all.
