Sabriel, daughter of the necromancer Abhorsen, must journey into the mysterious and magical Old Kingdom to rescue her father from the Land of the Dead.

Tim Curry narrates this imaginative and satisfying young adult fantasy. Curry is an excellent reader, but there is a danger that his voice will lead to having songs from the Rocky Horror Picture Show stuck in your head.

This is a classic that any fan of YA fantasy should read. Sabriel is a necromancer, trained in the art of ringing bells to ensure that the gate between the world of the living and the world of the dead remains intact. When her father goes missing, she must journey into the Old Kingdom to rescue him. And if that didn’t convince you to read it, it also has a snarky magical talking cat. Pro tip: the audiobook is AMAZING.

An interesting conceptualization of the necromancer, but an otherwise uninteresting "read." I thought Tim Curry might make it more exciting, but in fact, it took away from the book. Also, boys should not write romance.
