The returned
A seemingly random group of people find themselves in a state of confusion as they attempt to return home. What they don't know is that they have been dead for several years, and no one is expecting them back. Buried secrets emerge as they grapple with reality, struggling to reintegrate with their friends and families. But they aren't the only ones back from the dead. Their arrival coincides with a series of gruesome murders that resembles the work of a serial killer from the past.

The most beautiful zombies you've ever seen. I agree very much with the references to Lost, in that there are so many mysteries that are so cleverly revealed, each one building on the last. Don't make the mistake that I did, and read the insert that comes with the DVDs after the first few episodes, unless you want some of those secrets revealed sooner. Beautiful setting. A storyline that is riveting, heartfelt, and at times, can be the creepiest ghost story. I'd give it five stars, but didn't like the way the series was heading at the end of the season. Still the best television show I've watched in a long time.

Super tense and creepy, but not really violent. Perfect for us "horror wimps" as Multcolib puts it.

Horror fans should rejoice at the creation of this excellent creepy, atmospheric and mysterious series. The quality is top caliber and compares to any North-American premium-cable offering. Takes the "walking dead" concept in a new direction, echoing some of the variations introduced to the genre's defining characteristics in the 2013 season of the of "Being Human" (Yank version). With the mountain-village backdrop and the series' cool mysteriousness, one can't help but think of "Twin Peaks", but with a nod the comparison stops there. The stars are appealing talented and captivating. The first season slowly reveals that the gentle rural innocence of the mountain village covers something much darker beneath. This cover is pulled back just enough to get a peek as the season closes. Why have they returned? A price to pay/score to settle? Definitely worth the time to find out, even with subtitles for the Franco-challenged. The real horror is waiting for season 2...

A very captivating, creepy, haunting, slow burn of a horror story. You'll probably watch some it with your hands in front of your eyes. Extremely well-acted and well-directed, it will remain in your memory for some time afterwards.

'The Returned' is set in an unbelievably beautiful mountain community. The story is told with restraint and the actors (especially the children) are magnifique. This series is like an extra long A-plus movie that gets better and better. Our story is told with intelligence, suspense and pathos. Although Seattle doesn't offer an organization like the series' 'Helping Hand', we do have several ZA (Zombies Anonymous) meetings. For others like myself, remember, you're not alone and there is help out there. There is no need to terrify and feed off the living.
