Item Details

The distinguished lutenist and guitarist Richard Savino has made some great recording choices over the years, and we're happy to make some of his best works available on Magnatune. Venice Before Vivaldi explores the works of Giovanni Legrenzi, and features the well known El Mundo chamber group under Savino's direction. Legrenzi's compositions range from playful to contemplative, from dark to light, but are always marked by an elegance of gesture and completeness of thought. El Mundo's interpretations are layered and yet completely natural. Jennifer Lane's rich, buttery mezzo-soprano appears on a few tracks as well, and is a real pleasure for the ear.
