Multcolib My Librarian Karen E: The best of the BBC (comedy)
Annotation:Chronicles the blunders of the fictitious Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship, a government department barely registering on the national radar. In this Ministry, every announcement is followed by a whirlwind of u-turns, every policy is a scramble and every mishap is met with abuse from the Prime Minister's policy enforcer. Starring the newest Dr. Who, Peter Capaldi.
Annotation:The story centers around a young group of siblings pretty much neglected by their alcoholic father, surviving by their wits, and humor, on a rough Manchester council estate. James McAvoy stars in the first 2 seasons. Works better in the original British version than the American remake (at least in my opinion).
Annotation:Paul Slippery is an anxiety-ridden British doctor suffering from all those symptoms and more. His wife has embarked on a new career and perhaps an extramarital affair or two. His three oversexed sons mock him without mercy. And at work he's tangled in red tape and tormented by a flaky colleague. Hugh Laurie is hilarious!
Annotation:When the brilliant but socially awkward and neurotic Doc Martin develops an aversion to blood, he abandons his career as a celebrated London surgeon and becomes the only doctor in a sleepy small town where his tactless manner soon has everybody in an uproar. Watch Martin get to know the town's hysterical mix of quirky residents as he finds new ways to put his foot in his mouth.
Annotation:In the gleaming high-rise offices of Reynholm Industries, powerful executives oversee billion-dollar business deals. But in the dark and shabby basement, the company's IT support team rules their own domain of professional irresponsibility, mega-nerd ecstasy, and personal insanity.
Annotation:The sleepy English village of Dibley is plunged into an uproar when its new vicar turns out to be a woman. And not just any woman, but the unconventional Geraldine Granger who brings her own earthy spirit and humor to the pulpit. Starring Dawn French who is wonderful!
Annotation:Andy has been an actor for five years, but thanks to his useless agent, he's never done any real acting. Instead, he is a lowly film extra, making his mark in the background while the stars do their work. His partner in arms is the pitiable Maggie, a fellow extra and a hopeless romantic.
Annotation:Features six thirty-something friends, involved, formerly involved, or looking to become involved with each other, in some of the funniest, most compromising, and embarrassing situations ever presented on TV.
Annotation:Gavin and Stacey speak every day on the phone at work, and yet they've never met ... until now. Gavin is an ordinary boy from England. Stacey is an ordinary girl from Wales. When Gavin and Stacey finally meet, the peculiar personalities of their families and friends guarantee that there will be no such thing as 'ordinary' ever again.
Annotation:Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes play two very different twenty-something people, Daisy Steiner and Tim Bisley, who pretend to be a professional couple to secure tenancy of a North London flat. The two along with their assortment of co-conspirators: tortured artist Brian, would-be soldier Mike, fashion fascist Twist, rock casualty landlady Marsha and Colin the dog, tackle the big questions of the 21st century.
