Honestly I found this book to be quite boring. While the premise of the book in this dystopian world was an interesting idea, the author just didn’t go far enough into this idea to actually make it interesting. The book was really slow,…

Kazuo Ishiguro's "Never Let Me Go" is a deeply disturbing dystopian novel that follows the lives of three friends who grow up together in a seemingly idyllic English boarding school, only to discover a dark secret about their destined…

This novel by Kazuo Ishiguro is set in England in the 1990’s. Kathy, our narrator or
protagonist, has two friends, Tommy and Ruth. The three of them are raised in a
“boarding school” of sorts, and are clones. This is definitely one of the…

A well written slow burn dystopian novel. How the characters spoke to each other often made me wince (so harsh and immature!)but if anything that just illustrated how well the author created his characters. There is a chapter or two that…
Multiple Recs! "Thought-provoking, ethically haunting." - Katie B.
"It is a highly relatable coming-of-age story and a chilling warning of the future to come. But ultimately a stirring look at what it means to be human." - Monica W.

This is a masterpiece of dystopic fiction that felt, chillingly, real. Never Let Me Go is told from the main character Kathy’s perspective, who as an adult is looking back on her life beginning as a child, making this somewhat of a…
Even though this title has some sci-fi elements, Ishiguro's exploration of self-understanding and the human capacity for forgiveness sets it apart from any other sci-fi title I've read.

A quiet page-turner that captivates you with the story. I expected more drama at the end, but it did a good job reflecting the pain of reality even inside a fictional world.

I really loved this book, my first introduction to Ishiguro. Often reads like a British classic but with an unexpected and twisted twist! Thought provoking and lovely

This is one of those books that sticks with you. Beautifully written it presents an alternate reality where questions about humanity and person-hood loom large. It is also a sweet love story and profoundly tender at times.

This is the epitome of very slow, very subtle psychological suspense. Blink and you'll miss it: throughout the very lifelike coming-of-age plot, lying in wait for you are hints of a disturbing future for our characters and a dystopian…

When I was a kid, I didn't like science fiction because all the examples I'd read at that point were "all plot and no character". This book would have changed my mind. Other books have already done so, of course, but this is very much…
This was absolutely beautiful. To me, it was written as if an acquaintance was telling me their life story. The flow of the narrative had no climax, no real conflict, no plot twist. Instead it was very calm and a bit haunting. I found…

Never Let me Go kind of disappointed me. Don’t get me wrong, it was a decent book, but it was not amazingggg. It is about three friends - Kathy, Tommy, and Ruth who attend a secluded boarding school promoting the arts called Hailsham. They…

I hesitate to review very thoroughly because this is definitely a "less you know the more you'll enjoy" sorts of reads. Suffice to say the writing is excellent and I particularly enjoyed the way information is revealed.
