I can appreciate the gore and some of the suspense in the novel. Unfortunately, the writing lacks subtlety. There is a romantic subplot that is particularly painful to read, with a female character who acts as the epitome of the "Horny…

A promising and exciting beginning, then at about page 75 or so, you find out the nature of the forces aligned against our heroes and it's downhill from there. I should have shut the book for good right then but I didn't. This combined…

Terrible book unless you are into vampire sects in the Catholic church and a gospel written in Christ's blood. And this is not the end apparently there will be more books in this series. Rollins is wasting his time writing such drivel.

Ok. So I love James Rollins. This is not his best work. The characters are not all that relatable. And it's a vampire story. I thought that fad had finally run its course. That said, I'll still read the next one.

Great premise and set-up for a good story, the ending was disappointing. Seems like this is only part 1 of a long series.
Not being a fan of fantasy fiction or supernatural tales, I thought I might not enjoy this one. I was totally wrong. Good read. The story flowed smoothly and had enough action and suspense to keep me reading. 4*'s for fantasy fiction…
