Lovely, sweet story from a 5 year old's perspective. Having recently studied 1930-40s time period, all my children loved the book (ages 14, 12, 9, and 8). Originally I picked it up as a quick read for the kids, but everyone wanted to read it at the same time and so it became a family read aloud. We especially laughed at the Snow White movie chapter. We had found a kindred spirit in Mr. de Paola! Also, we built our "forever" home five years ago and my children could identify with the main arc throughout the story. Such a fun, unexpected find!! We are now reading through the whole series.
