This volume was published in conjunction with the two-part 2001 exhibition of Hiratsuka's work at The Art Institute of Chicago. The essays discuss the artist and his prints, his roots and his development as an artist, the artist from the viewpoint of friends to whom he gave his work as gifts, and life in the Hiratsuka family. The plate section contains 110 color and b&w reproductions, some of them accompanied by the artist's description of the work and what drew him to recreate the particular scene. Annotation c.
