Daisy loves riding with her father on his motorcycle. The smell of the gasoline, the wind in her hair, and the sound of the engine. But there is nothing better than viewing the neighborhood through the vibrant lens of the hardworking people, shops, and stories of the past. As they pass Don Rudy's Raspados de Frutas Naturales, Abuelito and Abuelita's house, and her father's construction site, we are reminded of the important individuals that make a community thrive. And we honor them.

Daisy and her Papi go on a motorcycle ride through their neighborhood, passing by murals, barking labradoodles, Abuela's house, and the librarian, Mr. Garcia. As they ride, they become “a spectacular celestial thing soaring on asphalt.” A vibrant story full of love between Papi and Daisy, their home and family. -Ann Dickinson, Southwest Books of the Year 2019, Pima County Public Library

This is a book I will be buying for my personal shelf and sharing with so many kiddos and their families! It would be a good read aloud when talking about Hispanic culture, family, community, or immigration. The art work is also really fantastic.

Daisy and her father go for a motorcycle ride after he comes home from work. Rich storytelling and beautiful illustrations make this a must-read.
