"The author of the acclaimed bestseller Bobos in Paradise takes a witty look at middle-class suburban America. Responding to those who regard us as the great bimbos of the globe, he asks: Are we as shallow as we look? Is there anything that unites us across the divides of politics, race, class, and geography? What do it mean to be American?"

Brooks sounds so intelligent and hip on the Lehrer Hour.

True, he's a Washington wonk but "Paradise Drive" is rehashed, thin "Freakonomics" and "Tipping Point." Stick to the orginals.
