In a time of titanic sandstorms, vile plagues, drought and pestilence - signs of God's fury and harbingers of the Apocalypse - the final conflict between good and evil is about to begin. Interesting premise, but it d r a g s ; the characters are one dimensional; the acting and the directing are inert. No detectable "chemistry" between the characters, positive, negative, or romantic. For a show about the supernatural, it didn't "fly." On the plus side, the costumes are great: they really look worn, lived-in. The commentary might be helpful for those who could use a few clues.

One of my favorite series- I wish it was given more time. I love its quirky-ness.

perhaps i had this show hyped too much for me, but i was rather disappointed. as another user explained, the setting in the depression-era and costumes are probably the best part about this show.

however, the storyline seemed a little canned and overdone (with a child of light and a child of dark), and never really went anywhere, except to another town, and another town (convenient for a carnivale). i convinced myself it would get better and finally develop, but i was left unsatisfied at the end of season one's finale. i cancelled my hold on season two.

This was an HBO series that got canceled way to soon. It was only two seasons but honestly it is a must watch! It's a battle between good and evil but takes place during the 1930's in a carnival setting. The characters, costumes and settings are amazing!!! I own this series.

Wonderfully wacky and weird, would very much recommend for something just a little bit different.
