Opinion

From Library Staff

Hunt for shapes of all kinds on this journey through a bustling city.

Fountas and Pinnell Level M

A young girl walks through the bustling city, while a pigeon flies above, both spotting hidden shapes at every turn.

Urban life as geometry. Rich and vibrant tour through a young girl’s city and the shapes it contains if you slow down enough to see.

The illustrations are vibrant, colorful, and busy. It doesn't take more than a nudge to turn this book into a treasure hunt for various shapes and colors.

Use for Shapes story time for preschool, have a copy for everyone.

Read this one out loud, since many (if not all) of the rhymes lead readers to a "fill in the blank" of shapes. From squares to diamonds and stars, Bryan Collier's distinctive illustrations really bring the city shapes to life.
