A very complete and straightforward guide to saving money and making a usable budget! I appreciated their attention to small things, no-nonsense approach, and inclusion of free and low-cost recreation event ideas (because budgeting without having any fun is just painful). While some didn't apply to me (me not being a parent), the majority of information in here was useful and included several things I hadn't considered before. I highly recommend this for anyone needing to set a budget, looking to reduce debt, wanting ways to save up for a large purchase, folks recently unemployed or retired, and fresh-out-of-college kids in their first independent living situation.

Great case study of how to be frugal. a lot of focus on coupons--i find in general canadians use less coupons than americans. great stuff in terms of hard numbers--good for all those skeptics who feel that they can't save money by implementing some of the simple strategies in this book.

Does overlap with common sense strategies and other environmental books but thats just bound to happen once you've read a few.

A fun read!

Everything in this book is pretty common sense, except for a couple of things that they really don't go into detail over. For example, they advice you to always look over the plans before you have a carpet installed - but never actually tell you why. So, if I were indeed to follow that advice I'd ask to look at the plans and then what? It will magically cost me less to install the carpet? I'd have no idea what I'm looking at. Their advice on shopping for cars was somewhat nutty too. As for the rest, like I said: common sense. Anyone who's even attempted to be frugal will probably feel like they wasted their time reading this book (and time is money, people!). If you have no clue where to start saving money, this book might be for you.
