I enjoyed this book more than I remember enjoying the first one. It's been awhile since I read the first ones though. I have been enjoying watching the movies

I read all the Twilight books in highschool, and they were the catalyst to what is now my love of reading.
I had hoped that this book would've contained Edward's perspective of the most memorable moments of the whole series and not just the first novel. I did enjoy Edward's dark humour and having an insight to what his family actually thought of Bella. But I found his obsessive Bella-related-thoughts a little childish and trying at times.

My curiosity won in the end and I, admittedly, devoured this. Did I like it? Not really, but I also couldn't put it down... I blame the nostalgia and my love for cringe. It's interesting to see the story with fresh, mature eyes. I realize how the relationships in this series skewed my expectations of love & desire when I was younger. To be honest, I reread the rest of the series when I was finished with "Midnight Sun;" I think the books from Bella's perspective are far more engaging and offer better plot development.

What is it about these novels? They are so bad, but you just can't put them down!

I read the Twilight Saga when I was teaching middle school, since that's what my students were reading in their spare time. Another teacher and I agreed that, while entertaining, these stories are hardly literature. After reading Midnight Sun, my opinion hasn't changed. In fact, I found this book so boring I struggled to get through it. Lots of repetition of ideas, which lengthened the story unnecessarily.

Midnight Sun was an incredible book!! I really liked hearing the story from Edward's perspective. You can see how much he loves Bella. The PERFECT fairy-tale love - the very best kind. Also, it was SO great to get to know the Cullens better. Each character is so unique and carefully crafted, and yet they fit together into the most amazing family ever. I so love the relationships they share - again, fairy-tale families are the absolute best. Emmett is the most awesome, funny brother. Rosalie is a fascinating person and I liked to hear about her relationship with Emmett. Jasper is so cool and nice. Esme is the best mother, and she cares so much about her kids. Carlisle is the best, and he is so kind to everyone. And Alice...well Alice is sort of beyond words, but I am her biggest fan. I am so glad Stephenie Meyer wrote this last installation. It really ties the entire story together. Although I would gladly read a hundred more Twilight books!!

If this had come out before 50 Shades, I think I would've liked the book. That said, you can see where I'm going. Couldn't get into it and I'm fine with that.

Ok. So what can I say? My inner feminist was writhing in pain the entire time, but my inner teenage girl was absolutely screaming. Stephanie Meyer has really improved with her writing...and she now seems to be aware of the harm of blindly accepting everything your stalker throws at you and falling in love anyway. It's better if there is awareness, right? Also he's a vampire. That's how vampires operate, duh. In short, I loved it. Sue me.
