Opinion

From Library Staff

The Moffats' mom is widowed and money is tight, but every day is an adventure!

The four Moffat kids and their mother are either fun-loving or trouble-finding, depending on your point of view. Every chapter is a different funny story, much as in Beverly Cleary's Henry Huggins.

Relates the adventures and misadventures of the four Moffat children living with their widowed mother in a yellow house on New Dollar Street in the small town of Cranbury, Connecticut.

It's a busy house with four children and their adventures / misadventures.

A year of vignettes about four siblings and their dressmaker mother in small-town America. The guileless children solve each small crisis with the help of family and community.

I love this book for its lovely story and the relationship between the family members. One of my all time favorite books for children. Has great depth of feeling.

Gentle stories that center around the emotions of young childhood. Intriguing, soothing, absorbing. Recommended.
