When Miranda first hears the warnings that a meteor is headed on a collision path with the moon, they just sound like an excuse for extra homework assignments. But her disbelief turns to fear in a split second as the entire world witnesses a lunar impact that knocks the moon closer in orbit, catastrophically altering the earth's climate. Everything else in Miranda's life fades away as supermarkets run out of food, gas goes up to more than ten dollars a gallon, and school is closed indefinitely. But what Miranda and her family don't realize is that the worst is yet to come. Told in Miranda's diary entries, this is a heart-pounding account of her struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all–hope–in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar time.

I am not rating the novel bad as I have not been able to finish it yet. I am however rating the audiobook bad. I could not sit through more than 5 minutes of the cd because the readers voice was so obnoxious. There was no difference in the tone of her voice when she was speaking a male part vs a female part. And the whole time it sounded like she was talking to a small child. I look forward to reading the book on my own, but I am not going to be able to get through the audiobook.

I admit that I do tend to judge a book by its cover. This one intrigued me, the reviews were good and I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. When an asteroid slams into the moon, it throws the Earth's gravity off kilter. Soon, its a struggle for our main character, 15 year old Miranda and her family just to stay alive. The style of writing was really great and kept me interested all the way through. This is the first book in a series and I think I will certainly read the rest.

If you do not feel a renewed appreciation for life after this extraordinary yet depressing read, you may need to check your pulse. I rooted wholeheartedly for Miranda and her family. Who knew a story involving can food could be so engaging? Thoroughly enjoyed this novel about life after a phenomenal tragedy.

pretty good story line. Kept you hooked to see what will come. The only anoyance is the Author's over use of the word 'said', he said, she said, matt said etc.......
