When one is surfing, one may not go fast enough and as a result get swamped by the wave, being taken under it, held there, and then released as it passes over one. This music is like a memory, recounted slowly, of just such an experience, if one were surfing thin clouds on a starlit night.
I enjoyed this CD. I have noticed that it has the elements of what we would now call Fusion Jazz that has evolved to the Contemporary Jazz genre. This is a must listen to anyone who is a Jazz fan and please have an open mind.
This was my first Miles Davis album and I fell in love with what was to become known as jazz fusion. I eagerly sought out Davis' later albums as they came out. Eventually, I started listening to Davis' earlier acoustic jazz, but it took me some time before I was able to appreciate it like his jazz fusion.
