Every year I pick up this book and return to Hogwarts on a journey through Harry's seven years. These books always make me feel like I am going home - I am a Potterhead for life. <3

Good book, entertaining, but the series seemed to kind of lag. All in all, they were pretty decent books.

I was never really interested in Harry Potter but as soon as my sister showed me the 1st movie I knew I had to read the book or else I would be missing a part of the world! I also really love magic and mythical things, so if you are that type of person this book series plus the movies are just right for you!!!!!

It's my first time attempting to read this series. I've seen the movies but boy oh boy did thoroughly enjoy this book. I had the hardest time putting it down. Usually I have to check a book out two or three times in order to finish it but I finished this one with 7 days left. I would've finished it sooner but was trying to savour and enjoy the last 100 pages. I also immediately requested the next book in the series and am anxiously awaiting it as well.

The Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series where you read about his first year at Hogwarts. Harry's parents died when he was young so he was sent to live with his aunt, uncle and cousin. Many strange things happened in Harry's life that he couldn't explain, until his 11th birthday when he found out he was a wizard. Against his aunt's and uncle's wishes he was sent to Hogwarts and had many daring adventures through out the year. Including something about Nicholas Flamel and the Sorcerer's Stone...

The novel opens with a description of the Dursley family, a middle-class family that lives in Little Whinging, Surrey. Vernon and Petunia Dursley are constantly worried that someone will find out about Petunia’s decidedly “unDursleyish” witch sister, Lily, and their worries are justified when Lily’s infant son, Harry, is left on their doorstep. Lily and her husband, James Potter, had been murdered by the dark wizard, Voldemort, but when Voldemort attempted to kill Harry, his power somehow broke. Harry becomes the only living person ever to survive the killing curse, and the only sign of his encounter with Voldemort is a unique lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead. Because Harry does not have any other living relatives, Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, decides to leave him with the Dursleys until he is old enough to attend Hogwarts.
