Capturing Aerosmith at one of their most raw times, this album proved to be on of the band's most quintessential albums. Includes the hard rocking Back in the Saddle and the funky groove filled Last Child.

When Aerosmith started to get popular again in the late 80s, I thought of them as the poor man's American Rolling Stones. They have three songs I can kinda listen to, all because they have some other association: 1. "Walk This Way" (the Run DMC version) 2. "Toys in the Attic" (because R.E.M. covered it) 3. "Sweet Emotion" (for its use in "Dazed and Confused." Later I heard the New York Dolls and realized they were an inferior version of them. "Rocks" from 1976 is often considered one of their best and it's a decent, if generic, hard rock album. I don't mind the music, but I can't really stand Steven Tyler's voice or his inane lyrics. You can see this album's influence on Guns 'N' Roses, who toured with Aerosmith. Check out drummer Joey Kramer's hard-hitting autobiography "Hit Hard."
