Some of the best illustrations I've come across, esp for me, a beginner. A single page for each stitch, and the book pages aren't big. If you're a visual learner, it may be better. The write-ups are shorter for the stitches, so if you prefer to read it, that may not work. Small enough to easily carry around in a crochet bag.
- Good tips on the foundation chain (p89)
- Good section on making a block to see how it will be finished and determining number of skeins needed for a project (p. 74)
- How to modify clothing patterns (p81)
- Making stitch and chain at same time (p95)
- Missed stitches (p138)
This is by far the best book for beginner/intermediate crocheters. There all all sorts of tips and tricks in plain Engish, including really useful charts. I am buying myself a copy of this book. It is really small as well so it can fit in your craft bag.
Alternative foundatiion chain and other useful tips.
A great book for beginners. It also has a translation chart for hook sizes, with American, metric and even the old Canadian sizes, if you have inherited crochet hooks from your grandmother.
