This is the perfect movie to watch especially if you live in an old apartment building or home. The feeling of claustrophobia and desperation I believe are necessary in order to make a horror movie effective, and this movie achieve that marvelously. I have seen Quarantine, and even though that movie was enjoyable, this one is way better. One of the few horror movies that sucked me in completely and actually freaked me out. Love it!!

Zombies go primetime in this ferociously effective shocker from Spain! Balaguero and Plaza film the entire movie from a TV cameraman’s point of view. The result is a heightened sense of immediacy and stifling claustrophobia as the camera continually jerks and pans while an hysterical TV host shouts, “Keep filming, keep filming!” Once the tension begins it never lets up until you find yourself squirming in your seat. With a running time of only 75 minutes not one shot is wasted, not one line of dialogue superfluous. The ending, when it comes, is one of the creepiest sequences I’ve seen in a long time. The Americans have already made their own version of [REC] and are releasing it as “Quarantine”, but it can’t possibly be better than the Spanish original. Scary, scary stuff.

This DVD movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. Very predictable but still entertaining.

If you, like me, are totally annoyed by shaky, hand-held camera horror movies of the "found footage" kind, then, believe me, Rec is certain to be a real test of your patience.

Rec contains so much hysterical screaming that, you can be sure, when filming was all over these actors must've had seriously ruptured vocal chords, one and all.

Not only that, but, the number of furious rages over petty concerns (such as, who's in charge here) were so frequent in this low-budget, horror flick that, sure enough, it became downright laughable after awhile, and not in the least bit frightening.

Yes. When all hell finally breaks loose in Rec things certainly did get mighty deranged and twisted, alright. But, unfortunately, things also got unbelievably confused and sloppy, too.

The gravest mistake that Rec made was to try to cram the following 4 horror movie sub-genres into its story - Zombies, virus infection, the supernatural, and demon possession. And, on top of that, its story lead to no real conclusion, whatsoever.

Even though having to read sub-titles greatly distracted this viewer from getting completely involved in the story, Rec did actually contain a couple of first-rate moments of the truly horrific kind.

But, after all was said and done, Rec (with its 80-minute running time) was only an average fright flick, at best.

A totally original take on evil, I won't give it away other to say, that the afflicted are not actually zombies as we know them. Ending truly scary.

This one scared me! Watch it in Spanish with subtitles for best effect (dubbing almost makes it corny).

Very good zombie flick with the usual doomed residents quarrantined after a virus outbreak.

Above average "infected"/zombie movie. Some actual scares. However, although this movie is the supposed "inspiration" for Quarantine...this movie IS Quarantine. I enjoyed Quarantine much more because it lacked the bad dubbing and I think had slightly better effects/camera work. Not worth watching both movies in my opinion.

I almost NEVER say this because I usually despise remakes - but I have to say I think the American version of this film - Quarantine is much scarier. This original is worth watching, but Quarantine is one of the scarier movies I've seen in awhile.
