I can't explain how much this book helped me through our deployment. It provides understanding for both perspectives and opens eyes and doors to new things. An absolute must read for men or women in military relationships.

Naslund's "Ahab's Wife" was a good read so I was looking forward to this latest novel. There are 2 stories that alternate between time periods, each featuring a narcissistic female character. Some of the writing is so silly I find it hard to continue reading, but am determined to get to the end. There is a line about crunching leaves and autumn eating its cereal that left me slack jawed. I would quote it but I don't want to waste any extra time looking for it in a sea of awkward prose.
