Criticizing this cheeseball, low-budget "Alien" rip-off is kinda pointless. You either like these things or you don't. I'll watch just about anything produced by King of the B Movie Roger Corman because I know that no matter how bad it is, I'll at least be entertained. "Forbidden World" (also known as "Mutant) was released in 1982 and was one of several Corman produced sci-fi movies of the period, which also included "Battle Beyond the Stars," "Starcrash," and "Galaxy of Terror," which also ripped off "Alien." A Han Solo type and his trusty robot land on a planet where scientific research has created a killer mutant who is picking off the crew one by one. Just for good measure, there are two attractive women there, who don't mind taking their tops off. One is played by June Chadwick, best known for her role as the Yoko-like girlfriend in "This is Spinal Tap." The acting is amateur, the dialogue silly, and the plot derivative, but I wasn't bored. It's plenty gory and the alien is a bit corny, but it works. If you're expecting great cinema, well, you're in the wrong place, but if you like awesomely bad midnight movies, this is for you. And how about that over the top artwork? This double disc set includes the director's cut (called "Mutant"), which is longer and contains more humor. "Welcome to the Garden of Eden. We play God here."

Has Fox Harris, the inimitable actor who sang "Delilah" in Straight to Hell and also was in Repo Man!

Double Feature:

Mutant - a "b" movie (sci-fi) a little above "middle of the road". It has some hokieness to it but also has some "good sci-fi" which brings it together.

Forbidden World - not double feature, same movie just different titles.
