More than one friend has recommended it and it sounds right up my magic realism tree, PLUS it's short. Maybe this will be my year. (Jen's pick)

A wild and hilarious story of a twelve year old aristocratic boy in the late 1700's ran into the trees because he didn't want to eat snails set out for him, and won't come down! Of course, it ends up being about much more than that. Utterly ludic and highly enjoyable!

Great read but the second half goes pretty slow... not that there isn't a lot happening, just that the flow and interest drops off.
