Kenneth Moore was excellent but i'm afraid i found the rest of the episodes i watched of the first disc like watching paint dry. the characters were too over the top. Not as cookie cutter as American series are but close...so i was disappointed in this. Won't be watching the rest of the Dvd's on this earlier series. I do like the newest version (2013/4) much better.

I really loved the Chesterton stories, and this was a horrible disappointment.

I enjoyed this first series, after the first couple of episodes the actors seemed to get more into character and Father Brown had a somewhat Columbo feel of being a bit absent minded and mumbling to himself. Much of the British Christian sectarianism is evident in the dialog which I found interesting. It was dated and had a very 70's feel to it.
