Another collection from Gillen's run on the title, featuring a select squad of X-Men. Gillen's strong characterization reflects itself throughout... but the art proves to be something of a distraction, hindering the book. Greg Land as an artist has developed a bad reputation in the last few years with his style. He tends to litter his drawings of people with, well, the entirely wrong facial expression, as if they're all having what we might call their "happy moment." Maybe he traces far too much porn, but after awhile, his style becomes tedious and grating on the nerves. The writing and the characters deserve better.
