The body count becomes obscene. Good guys, bad guys, innocent bystanders all fall without a shred of compassion. The spilled blood wipes out any sense of appreciation we might have for the natural beauty in many of the scenes. The wild Mardi Gras-like celebrations near the end of the film with writhing naked figures are baffling. The only redeeming quality of this dismal movie is that the innocent little girl is saved and the heroine lives.

Average at best... The accents were hard to understand. The story is slow and direction is sporadic...

A pointless and fairly ridiculous shoot-em-up. Spoiler alert: I'm going to give you the full plot, and you still won't understand it. Two kidnappers kidnap the daughter of a war criminal. (That's stupid to begin with.) The kidnappers hide the girl it an underground box miles from nowhere, in Scotland. (Oh, by the way, if you want to hide a box, using a moss-covered granite slope means you have a lot of hard digging to do. Also, moss dries out quickly when disturbed, so using the moss for cover doesn't work well.) The kidnappers, armed only with knives, find two hunters with sniper rifles, and kill them. Meanwhile, a group of climbers has found the box, so the kidnappers start shooting them. Then some mercenaries who the war criminal father has hired get into the act. Then the police seem to be corrupt, but turn out to be OK, except that they never did call for help and get killed. Then the firemen save everyone. If you like to see people get shot and blood spraying everywhere, you will like this film. If you have the slightest desire for logic, you will be confused.

Good – A Lonely Place to Die (2011) 99 min. Unexpectedly good thriller coming out of the U.K. featuring a bunch of mountain climbers choosing to save a girl buried alive underground and facing the consequences of their good Samaritan act. The film does away with predictable plot points and focuses more on expecting the unexpected. Well made British film.
