This one is worth watching again, especially since there are so many characters involved. Daniel Craig plays detective Blanc, an interesting character himself. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard him singing one of my favorite show tunes while he was waiting in a car. Once you're into the story you'll have a better idea of what I mean and how unlikely that would be. I won't repeat what others said here but the film ends with a fairly unknown number from The Rolling Stones. Don't bet any money on who you think the killer is. You'd lose.

Maybe we should leave it to the English to make murder movies. This had potential, but somewhat failed. There still is some entertainment value here, though.

I was really in agreement with the director's commentary, and a large chunk of that is very helpful for those of us who like behind the scenes info. Rian said that the notes he kept getting from his cast said "the first 30 pages are too slow." That's, apparently, something he kept tightening. YIKE! I still found it too boring. Not tight enough. Good plot and who-dun-it though.

Thoroughly enjoyed this original who-done-it. Entertaining both visually and performance-wise. The story was very good and the cast was fresh and enjoyable. So good to see a movie break with the current norms of sex on the screen and heavy violence. There is a little blood and a fight scene or two, but it is not gratuitous and not hard to take.

An excellent film - one of my favorite 'new watches' of the year, and this from a person who doesn't traditionally watch 'who dun it' mysteries'. One of the factors that makes the film so appealing and accessible to audiences is that it spoofs the mystery genre (among other things), and isn't afraid to go to high or low for the sake of comedy. The comedy beats and dialog are fantastic, with very few (close to none) sections that didn't land well. The cast is top-notch, starting with Daniel Craig as the southern detective chock full of clichés and proverbs. The movie lends itself well to multiple viewings because the content is just that good, packed with so many jokes and quick moments, you might miss something on the first go-round, but you may catch it again later.

Fast-paced and darkly humorous, everyone has a motive and what you think you know, you really don't. Great cast and plenty of twists and turns.

"Because if you think that after all the bridges you burned. After all the *hi* said. After everything that you put this family through for the last years. That any of us are gonna support you. That any of us are gonna give you like dad like to say "A single red dime." YOU'RE NUTS!"

"I spoke in the car about the hole at the center of this doughnut. And yes, what you and Harlan did that fateful night seems at first glance to fill that hole perfectly. A doughnut hole in the doughnut's hole. But we must look a little closer. And when we do, we see that the doughnut hole has a hole in its center - it is not a doughnut hole at all but a smaller doughnut with its own hole, and our doughnut is not a hole at all!"

I read a tweet about a New Yorker article about you. You’re famous.

28 quotes in IMDb and they are all good. Thanks to its contributors. There are no doubt a few more memorable depending on one's interest. e.g.

One thing I assume of age is weariness. Damned if I don't get more tired every day. Tired of what I do. Following arcs like lobbed rocks, the inevitability of truth. But the complexity and the gray lie not in the truth but what you do with the truth once you have it.
