While a pretty terrible film, it is a time capsule of American indie film in the mid-90s, a time in which idiosyncratic auteurs seemed to be upsetting the system, much like in the 70s. The stories in this are all set in the same hotel and tied together by an exasperated bellhop. The first about a coven of witches is the silliest and most bizarre. Madonna and Ione Skey star and Allison Anders ("Gas Food Lodging") directs. In part 2, the hapless bellhop walks in on a strange domestic disturbance. Alexandre Rockwell directs. The third, directed by Robert Rodriguez, is the only one even approaching entertainment. It involves children, fire, and a dead hooker. The final and most unbearable episode is directed by Tarantino (then at the height of his ubiquity) and stars. . .Tarantino, playing against type as a characters who won't shut up. I give it a star just for Tim Roth, who works overtime to make the film less awful. Roth recently worked with Tarantino again on "The Hateful 8."

The first time I saw this movie was several years ago, and I have to say, it is totally HILARIOUS!

Loved it and am glad to have the opportunity to see it again.

I was curious, because of Tarantino's involvement. What a disappointment. His contribution is last, and palatable, to be kind. The first two 'chapters' are beyond awful. The only redeeming factor is Antonio Banderas in Robert Rodriguez' third segment, "The Misbehavers". His machismo spoof is the sole reason for my 1½ star rating.
