Opinion

From Library Staff

After a big bull tells him to go away, the rejected little guy hangs his head, and, as many real-life bullies do, turns his hurt into anger. When he comes upon a group of animals who want to play, he puffs himself up in a near-identical pose to his adult counterpart and shouts, "No!"

With very few words, the anti-bullying message is gently and cleverly reinforced.

I'd say that the worst bullies of all are the ones you come across on websites like this. They are the biggest cowards of them all.

I am using this book as orientation program for second graders - and in preschool programming http://www.thinkfinity.org/groups/neo-art-educators/blog/2013/08/15/smelling-the-flowers

Very simple story about a bully bull and how friends interpret his meanness. Indicative of the industry: simpler is more, in terms of incredibly sparse text.
