Opinion

From Library Staff

The lives of three Somali women intersect in Hargeisa in the days before the 1987 revolution; 9 year old orphan Deqo, the widow Kawsar and female soldier Filsan.

A realistic portrait of how war affects the individual lives of three very different Somali women whose paths converge in Hargeisa in the days before the 1987 revolution.

one of the best books I've read; about 3 women in Somalia, very realistic and raw but characters brought together so well; great insight into the war and how it affected people in that country. I will definitely be getting her earlier story out Black Mamba Boy, if this one is anything to go by...
