It should have been funny, lots of talent, but we quit after ten minutes or so.

I'm only twenty minutes into this and there have already been three things so offensive and unfunny that I've put it at pause and after writing this, will decide whether or not to finish watching this crap. I also stopped to check to see who wrote this in IMDB. Turns out it was a guy behind Sacha Baron Cohen films, which I don't find remotely funny either.

At best this could be another Brit rom-com along the lines of Notting Hill, a film I also detest for it's naiveté and grotesque sentimentality, but this is much worse as this is also deeply offensive (there is a rape joke at 20 mins in, before that jokes about illness and death, and before that a racist rap.) Don't get me wrong, in better hands, almost any subject can be humourous if handled with some sensitivity, but there is none here. This is amateur hour. Imagine if David Brent from the TV show The Office wrote a rom-com. It's that tone-deaf and embarrassing.

Not really worth the watch. A few good bits with an insanely cringe-worthy "best friend" who has absolutely no filter for what is/isn't appropriate, and a menage a trois scene that's laugh out loud funny, but everything else is instantly forgettable.

I was sooooooooo looking forward to a good Simon Baker comeic role....and he may actually play one...but this f-word spewing, sexist (if I were a guy, I'd write the arthor/director and complain--loudly--about how guys were portrayed in this flop), self-referential bit of cinamatic oooze isn't it.

And the rest of the actors...not that great (nor their roles), either.

Rotton Tom gave it a 28. They were being generous.

Dreadful. Adults acting like randy teenagers, and incapable of speaking without using every expletive and four-letter word ever invented!
Crude, sexist, characters one would run a mile from. One of the worst films ever made.

Funny ,delightful, some inappropriate talk, the storyline was good. Ending my favorite , good acting .

I liked it. Entertaining and good for unwinding. A little movie though, not a great one!

This is not your typical romantic comedy; in fact the story line is quite bold and is allowed to run it's full course.
The usual sexual references in the attempt to withdraw a laugh are definitely found throughout; as opposed to comedic body language, good timing and wittiness.

Amazingly it's unorthodox ending, makes one ponder and perhaps lean towards choosing it for ourselves (if one were to be caught in these absurd circumstances!)
It definitely steers away from the fairy-tale love story.

This movie had such potential as the script was so well written. I appreciate British humor and this movie is full of wit. It was not as dynamic, though, as it could have been, if a different director'd had a chance to make it work. I gave it three stars because I think it IS an above average movie but I wold rather read a book, if there was any.

I agree with louv2200 (see below),.. "unlikable characters doing cringe-worthy things".
Maybe its a 'British humor' thing ?
