I've read most of Carolyn Meyer's books; she writes great historical fiction for teens. This one just felt a bit off for some reason. It was easy to read, and the plot was fine, but I just didn't feel like it was Ancient Greece. The characters were okay. I never really cared much about Orestes, and the narrator just states that she's in love with him, so the romance seemed a bit forced. Hermione is a good protagonist, though. Also, I found the time skip was bad. She's 11, and then suddenly she's 20, with pretty much nothing happening in between. I would have rather the book started with her being older and explaining what happened, instead of a few chapters of her being 11. As a note to sensitive readers, there is a lot of sex in this book. Not sex scenes, and it's more like factual information, but everyone everywhere is having sex (this is Ancient Greece, after all). Also, I did not like the cover of this book, just as a personal thing. Why is she laying like that? She's a strong, brave herione, and they used a sensual cover. Overall, not my favourite of her books, but recommended for those who like historical fiction if you have extra time on your hands.

This book was excellent!!! About Helen of Troy's daughter, living when Helen was taken to Troy by Paris. A must read!
