I read a review of Deep Shadow - two books later. The guy said he thought Black Widow and Dead Silence must have been written by someone else. I can sort of see it.

I enjoyed the pace of Black Widow and Dead Silence, but yes far fetched and some eyerollingly implausible scenarios.

It's fiction. It's Randy Wayne White fiction. Doc Ford does all kinds of "yeah, sure" stuff in every book. I still enjoyed both Black Widow and Dead Silence.

I much prefer Doc Ford in his natural habitat in Florida. The story line is very farfetched in some ways and the axiom only crooks can be conned comes to mind. What happens in Vegas or an exotic island will not stay there, especially in the share everything atmosphere of today. The bad guys and the good guys are very close together in this little story.
