No one expects very much of an undergraduate: he should know that. None of us will fail our degrees, it is true--no one fails anymore. But none of us will excel, either. We're here to fill the classrooms, and pay the fees. We're here to populate the corridors, and sit decorously on the steps. What does it matter what we think?--Backcover.

This brilliant book does what hundreds of writers
have tried and failed to do: write an intriguing, witty,
entertaining and precise treatise on Wittgenstein's
thinking that is true to it in all its dimensions: aesthetic,
psychological, philosophical, moral, cultural.
It is not surprising that it took a terse and short work
of fiction to do this, a genre that fits the quizzical, provocative
unsparingly acute sensibility of its subject. I think
that if LW was still around and kicking, this is the book
he would smile at and say, yeah, you got it.
