Another really good show that was cancelled too early. It wasn't mainstream enough to keep viewers on NBC, but I've always suspected it would have done better on a cable network station.

Dracula was a retelling of the Dracula tale, with a victorian steampunk twist. Dracula, as 'Alan Grayson', has poised himself as a boisterous industrialist looking to introduce modern technological wonders to Europe. The quest to make a name for himself as an American playboy is actually a front for his quest of revenge against the Illuminati-like "Order of the Dragon". I've said this in many reviews and I always end up making an exception, but normally I'm not a big fan of the vampire genre. It's been an over-used cliche in books and film since the late 90's. Yet again, I have to admit I really liked this vampire centered TV show. It had an interesting steampunky feel, and it even managed to address a few contemporary social issues like race, gender, sexual orientation and class warfare. Sadly, the show barely made it one season, and ended on kind of a cliff hanger at that.

Dracula was not a bad series. It had potential of being pretty good, but sadly got cancelled after ten episodes. The show revolved around Dracula pretending to be an American entrepreneur while living in 1890s London. He planned to get revenge for events that occurred centuries ago, but his plan becomes complicated when he meets Mina Murray. As I said, the show had potential, but the ten episodes were not good enough. The writing felt rushed, and that led to a couple of poorly written episodes. The acting was good, but the writing made the performances awkward. Had they been given more episodes, I feel like it would have been much better. Sadly, we are stuck with 10 episodes that are not bad but not good either.

Not enough action in this for me. I had a hard time getting into it and gave it a shot watching 3 episodes and I am not one to turn away many shows. Set back in the 1800's and a little too much of a drama theme for a vampire series to me.

I like the series, it's was modern but kept to the traditional outline of the story of Dracula. I didn't feel that every one had to walk around speaking in a Hungarian accent all the to make it more believable...It kept it's Romance and Horror as in tact as expected, with a magical touch of Jonathan Rhys Meyers,(Bite Me,...Please!) He is as seductive and easy on the eye as any Vampire should be, and doing a marvelous as Count Dracula, as everyone else is, in the series. If it wouldn't come back for another season it will be a shame!

Good, but not great. Too many mediocre actors, and mediocre writing. I don't care for many of the main characters, including all of the Order, and the main characters Mina, Lucy, and Harker. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is pretty good as Dracula, but I don't like the American accent at all - they really needed the storyline to revolve around him having origins that would allow him to have an accent. Many of the scenes just aren't written well enough to be compelling enough for the show to sustain much suspense. I don't see this series having a very long run. There are just too many competing series out there which are better.
